Crock Pot Recipes for Easy Dinners

Crock pot recipes are an easy way to create the perfect dinner for the whole family. With a little prior planning and a crock pot, you are good to go for so many great recipe ideas.

A crock pot is a slow cooker that automatically cooks your food over a period of time, cutting off the power once the time is up. This is of course with the newer models of crock pots. Some older models either just have an off/low/high knob on them or they simply have a timer. But the newer ones actually have time settings where you can cook the meal for four hours and it will automatically shut off or go to low heat when time is up.

The pre-planning stage of using a slow cooker is to plan your meal the night before and put everything in the crock pot first thing in the morning before you leave for work. When you get home, simply apply low heat, let everything warm up again (if it is one of the models that automatically shuts off), and serve when everyone is ready to eat.

You can make anything in a crock pot. You can create a main course of any type of meat, you can cook a mix of vegetables, or you can cook an entire meal in one pot. This makes it easy to get dinner ready for the family any time during the day and have it ready by the time you get home.

There are thousands of crock pot recipe ideas that cover just about every type of food imaginable. You can cook pot roasts, pork loins, soup, succotash, ribs, pot pie, and so much more. The great part is the automation in the meal. The crock pot does most of the work for you while all you have to do is do the preparation and put it in the pot.

Since a crock pot cooks food very slow, any meat you cook in the pot should be very soft and juicy. Chicken falls off the bone, beef roast falls apart, pork pulls apart, and even the toughest meat will melt in your mouth.

And talk about well dispersed flavor, meats or vegetables cooked in a slow cooker are awesome. Everything in the pot absorbs all of the flavor added to the recipe. And the house smells great when you walk in the door.

One word of caution, though, when dealing with the crock pot. Make sure there is enough liquid in the pot when you start cooking. I'm all about trying new things with existing recipes, but I never mess with the water and any other liquids used to cook the food. The worst thing is to come home to burnt ribs.
