Seafood Dishes for Dining In

Seafood dishes are a great way to break up the standard meals of beef, chicken and pork. There are so many different types of crustaceans in our rivers, streams, and oceans that it's a shame we don't eat more of them. Their health benefits are worth adding them to your dinner menus.

Seafood Dishes

Crustaceans come in many shapes, sizes, and flavors. There are lobster, crab, shrimp, crayfish, and krill that you can easily add to your dinner as the main course to make everyone's day at the table.

When I was growing up, eating seafood was not a common practice. It was a very special occasion to go out to a fancy restaurant in Montana (which are hard to find) and order the most expensive meal in a year for the family. So, needless to say, we didn't get to eat a lot of these aquatic creatures.

When thinking about going out to eat, think of the price you pay just for one meal with the main course of shrimp. You may pay $20.00 just for six medium sized shrimp, usually over cooked or very oily. If you go to the store, you can buy two pounds of the same size shrimp and probably have them steam it for the same price. Two pounds will easily feed the entire family, not just one person.

So, what kind of dishes can you create with seafood? Literally hundreds of them. You can cook any type of crustacean by itself either by stove top, grill, oven, smoker, or steam. You can also mix one with others, add them to noodles, salad, sauces, dips, casseroles, soups, stews, risotto and so on.

Seafood dishes can be as easy or difficult as you want to make them. I love seafood any which way I can get it, but do try to make unique dishes with it just to be different.

Below are some of those recipes. Hope you enjoy.
